Costa Rica Day 2

Today we started out the day eating breakfast across a pond from our hotel room in Nuevo Arenal. The view was gorgeous, and we were sheltered from the misty rain. There were a ton of humming birds buzzing around, and even an iguana trying to soak up the rays of sun that peeked out between the rain clouds now and again. Ken, Doris's husband, brought over 2 puppies they recently rescued. So I got to have breakfast, amazing coffee, and a puppy to hold!

Then our friend and hostess, Dorris, drove us to La Fortuna where we did a chocolate tour at Rain Forest Chocolate Tours. It's crazy how such a tiny flower can turn into the huge cocoa beans!
Cocoa bean flowers

Beans! :)
We got to taste the cocoa beans- they were fruity!

After the chocolate tour, we went over to Catarata La Fortuna. The walk down to see the waterfall was alllll stairs. Which means the walk back up was quite a trek. But the waterfall was worth it!

I'm going to have a lot of photos of Laenea in front of me. :)
There's 400-some of these steps. Great workout!

AND. Lastly for the photos I took today. We saw our first sloth!!!

Look how pretty she is!!
Tomorrow Laenea and I are going to try waterfall rappelling. Wish me luck- I don't do so well with heights. Or getting cold and wet. haha
Good night!
